"Through the Windshield"
Snapshot Memory Series 2022 - 2023
This is a series of mixed media work I am still working on where I am creating acrylic paintings with acrylic skin collages ranging in sizes from 11" x 14" to 24" x 36" that I am using to process my 2003 Kuwait/Iraqi OIF deployment with the 7th Transportation Group (Forward) during the build-up, initial combat operations, and into the first phase of sustainment operations there in-country. I am using these "snapshot memories" from actual digital pictures I took from my time there, some I outright remember, some distant hazy memories, that seem like a dream now, that if I didn't have the pictures I took with my own hands, I don't think I'd even know they were my own. Come along this journey with me, of trucks, transportation, convoys, sand, and open landscapes, into this world of a distant time, two decades ago, which may or may not exist in memory or reality in the present time.
